The Introduction:
Are you a strong Level 2+ MSP engineer who takes pride in solving problems the right way, owning your work, and helping clients succeed? Are you disciplined, dependable, ethical, and serious about growing into a stronger technical professional?
neKey is looking for an exceptional L2+ Project Engineer who combines technical skill with strong work ethic, clear communication, sound judgment, and a desire to be part of an amazing team. This role is for someone who wants more than a ticket queue. It is for someone who wants to grow, evolve, contribute, and help build better client technology environments.
We are looking for a talented MSP professional who can handle escalations, contribute to projects, document work properly, support teammates, and continuously raise the standard of what excellent IT service looks like.
About Us:
neKey is an established IT services, support, and cybersecurity company serving businesses across a variety of industries. We help clients improve their technology, protect their systems, support their teams, and operate more efficiently.
Our work includes managed IT services, cybersecurity, cloud services, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, networking, infrastructure support, client onboarding, documentation, and business technology consulting.
Our culture values professionalism, accountability, continuous learning, strong communication, and ethical decision-making. We believe technical skill matters, but character, discipline, ownership, and teamwork matter just as much. The right engineer will join a team that takes pride in doing excellent work, supporting each other, improving systems, and building long-term client trust.
The Position:
As an L2+ Project Engineer, you will be responsible for handling escalated technical support issues, supporting and leading client projects, improving client environments, and helping ensure that our technical work is completed accurately, securely, and professionally.
This is not a basic helpdesk position. You should already have strong MSP experience or the equivalent ability to work across multiple client environments, troubleshoot beyond the obvious, manage competing priorities, and communicate clearly with clients and teammates.
We are looking for someone who has the talent to solve technical problems, the discipline to follow process, the humility to keep learning, and the work ethic to follow through even when the work is difficult.
The essential qualities and requirements for this position include:
In this role, you may assist with escalated support, client onboarding, equipment deployments, server and cloud migrations, network troubleshooting, Microsoft 365 administration, cybersecurity remediation, documentation cleanup, backup and disaster recovery tasks, vendor coordination, process improvement, and other client technology projects.
Because attention to detail is part of technical work, applicants should read this description carefully and follow the application instructions closely. In your cover letter, please include brief answers to the following three questions:
Also include a short paragraph of 4–6 sentences that begins with the exact phrase: “The firewall was not the problem.” In that paragraph, tell us a true or realistic story about a time when the obvious technical explanation was not the correct one, you had to slow down and investigate, or you learned that assumptions can create bigger problems than the original issue. The story does not need to involve a firewall, but it should show how you think, how you troubleshoot, how you communicate, and whether you value accuracy over ego.
This opportunity is intended for applicants who read carefully, communicate clearly, and take the application process seriously. Attention to detail, ethics, documentation, teamwork, and follow-through are part of the evaluation process.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary based on experience, technical ability, professionalism, and demonstrated ownership. We also offer opportunities for professional development, hands-on project experience, mentorship, and growth within the company.
Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, and an industry-leading vacation and paid time off policy. We also include a gym membership benefit for team members who complete at least 12 workouts per month.
The Location:
Our office is located in Pennsauken, NJ, right alongside the scenic Cooper River Park. The area is near the intersection of several major highways, with convenient access from Center City Philadelphia over the Ben Franklin Bridge, making the commute simple and accessible.
We are primarily an in-office team because collaboration, mentorship, documentation, and technical problem-solving are important parts of how we work. After demonstrating reliability, responsibility, and strong performance, team members may enjoy the option of working from home one day a week.
